Illyasviel von Einzbern has only possessed the magical wand, Ruby, for a mere month, yet she is struggling to balance her life as a student and magical girl. On her daily commute to school with her friend Miyu Edelfelt, an urgent message from Rin Toosaka interrupts them. Rin informs them that their collection of magic cards has disrupted the Earth’s natural pulse, and in an attempt to restore equilibrium, the Earth has summoned a woman who bears a startling resemblance to Illyasviel.
The next day, Illyasviel is assaulted by the same black-clad woman, and her previously unstoppable Prisma Illya form proves no match for her opponent’s immense power. Although Illyasviel emerges from the confrontation victorious, she is left grappling with the identity and motivations behind her murderous twin.
